Queen's Award

Pioneer Gaye Walworth was presented with the Girls' Brigade's highest honour, the Queen's Award Badge, during the Brigade World Day Of Prayer service on June 10. The service, this year, was held at St Andrew's, Cobden Street, and the award was presented to Gaye by the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker. After the service a parade and inspection was held in the church grounds.

Other Girls Brigade activities during the same weekend included a seven-to-nine social hour on the Saturday night, at which everyone wore a Mad Hat. Competition was keen, with some very exotic creations being paraded. The judges had a hard time sorting out the winners and place-getters.
