Mr and Mrs Percy Sargisson, Desmond Road, celebrated their diamond wedding on May 19, and they were honoured by a large gathering of friends at an afternoon social at the Baptist Church. They have been devoted supporters of the church for the last 40 years. Mr Sargisson, who is 98, had a carrying business of his own before World War 1. After that war he and Mrs Sargisson ran a grocery store. Before her marriage, Mrs Sargisson, who was Miss Lydia Thomas, was a tailoress.
