"Gisborne Image"
"Gisborne Image," featuring bold and exciting works by seven local artists, was previewed at the Art Gallery on June 12. The striking paintings, wood sculptures and pottery form one of the best exhibitions yet seen at our local art centre. The show will be on view at the Art Gallery until June 27, after which the exhibition goes to Wellington for a two-week display at the Rothmans Gallery. Well worth going to see — here in Gisborne that is!
The Gisborne preview was opened by Public Relations Officer Harry Bennett. He is pictured with exhibitor Doreen Costello alongside two of Mrs Costello's emulsion on board works.
Phyllis Underdown, model Colin Underdown, and the completed oil, "Youth."
Bold and simplified forms dominate Walter Tombleson's oils, five of which he has in the exhibition.

Painter and sculptor Graeme Mudge will show four oils and four wood sculptures.
Juliet Bowen with her oil and high gloss "Land Form — Mania." Mrs Bowen is also taking four works to Wellington.
