5000 for the Birds

A crowd of 5000 turned up to see the contest for the Radio 2ZG Beach Girl, 1973, held at the Waikanae Sound Shell on New Year's Day. One hundred dollars in cash, a sewing machine and numerous other prizes were won by Sally Lawton.

Who took the title from 14 other entrants, Sally was sponsored by Pritchard & Ninness.

Judges Harry Bennett, Regency Chauvet and Mike Brittenden had a very difficult task
