A Night out for Bad Min Tinn

A great night out for everyone at the Racquets Badminton Club end-of-season cabaret was highlighted by the presentation of prizes and trophies, during the course of the evening.

Club president Brian Atkins presents Andy Costain (men's A grade doubles) and David Morley (men s A doubles, singles, and combined doubles) with their trophies.

Receiving their cups are Jill Bilton (ladies' A grade combined, singles, A doubles) and Sadie Louis (A doubles). Absent from the evening was Fay Flavell, winner of the ladies' C grade singles.

The A team won.the Spalding shield (for inter-club competition). From left, the team is Bill Johnson, Faye Caughey, Kathy Gordon, Shirley Preston, Joy Hughes, Lance Jory (club captain) and Tom Trotter.

A special award was made to Robert Peterson as Driver of the Year, in particular because of his efforts during the trip to the National Championships, in Hawke's Bay.

Lorraine Jory won the cup for the most improved female player.

A hilarious skit, based on the characters in Andy Pandy, in the Des O'Connor TV show, brought gales of laughter from the crowd. From left, Andy Costain (Randy Andy), Jill Bilton (Seducey Lucy) and Bernie Norman (Teddy). The actual story was narrated by Sadie Louis.

Bernie Norman and Del Whitfield won the combined cup for non-team members. Del Whitfield also won the club captain's cup.
