Two well-known Gisborne polo players, Wynne and Woodbine Sherratt, who are now in Mexico as members of the five-man New Zealand polo team, competing for the premier polo trophy of the world, the Gold Cup. Wynne is vicecaptain of the team.
The selection of the Sherratt brothers continues a strong family link with the game of polo extending over a great many years.
Wynne Sherratt was full-back in the team which visited Australia in 1954.

Members of the newly-formed R.S.A. Bowling Club at Gisborne who competed in the Dominion R.S.A. bowling tournament at Westport recently, and returned with the Kippenbenger Shield for runners-up at the tourney.
