The whole of the afternoon programme in the ring was given over to buckjumping and steer-riding. Although some splendid exhibitions were given, many of the public who could attend only in the afternoon were disappointed that they had missed the greater variety of entertainment offering in the morning.

The appearance of Warwick Steggall, Dominion champion rodeo rider, and Peter Lambert, runner-up to Steggall, added interest to the programme. Steggall, during his re-ride, won the buckjumping contest. "Melody" Jones was in second place, and Bill Dolan third.

There were 45 entrants in the steer-riding classes. Best picture was of this steer almost standing on its nose in effort to unseat rider.

There was a large entry for the tyre race. Eager competitors are shown lined up for the start, and coming up the straight.

Much merriment was caused by the "egg and spoon" race, in which the eggs were balloons and the spoons were shovels.

Country Girl's Club members assembled in shorts and outsize shirts to roll out the barrels for novel and difficult contest.
