This old photo, taken from the hill above Riverside Road, shows Riverside Road crossing the Waiteata Stream in the right foreground. The lower end of Russell Street is marked by fence posts, while across the river is the area now taken up by Anzae Park.

This old photo shows the part of Kaiti which eventually became the inner harbour (foreground), while beyond, over the junction of the Taruheru and Waimata Rivers, can be seen early Whataupoko.

The old arched bridge was the centre of attraction for many years, in the Botanical Gardens. It is now, of course, no longer there, being replaced by the new bridge which runs from Hall Street to Thompson Street.
