The zig-zag road on the left is Perry Street, and behind that street is Clifford Street. Kaiti Hill is visible in the right background, in this picture from Mrs J. T. Hill.

Names still familiar in the Gisborne-Wairoa district, belonging to faces in this picture, include Bob Short (the late Mayor of Wai-roa), Ian Shaw, Gordon Shaw, Bill Short, Judy Short, Trixie Swarbrick, Audrey West, Betty Joblin and Doreen Shaw. Some of the girls' names might obviously be not so familiar, due to Cupid, but 1929 is not that long ago.
