Life Membership Awarded

Mrs Isobel Coulston was made a life member of the Gisborne Rose Society at the society's 10th annual general meeting. Mrs Coulston, founder of the society a decade ago, was presented with her life membership badge by Mr Con Holyoake, the present Emeritis of the N.Z. National Rose Society.

An electric drill was presented by the Cheer and Charity Club recently, to the Vanessa Lowndes Disabled Workshop. Members of the club meet and raise funds quietly, then when they have enough in hand something is bought and presented to a worthwhile cause. Organiser of the club, Mrs E. Stratton, presents the drill to Mr Jim Taewa, workshop foreman.

Gold and silver judo medals came to Gisborne after Y.M.C.A. Judo Club members, Andrea Wilson (gold), Bryce Johnson (bronze) and Jillian Chamberlain (silver), competed at the NZ. Championships, held in Auckland. Andrea also went from third to second kyu, while Jillian went from fourth to third kyu.
