Hangi Is Highlight

A delicious hangi, which included suckling pig, lamb, crayfish and other sweet goodies, was the highlight of this year's ex-Malayan reunion. Members who served in Malaya gathered at the Scout Hall, in Carnarvon Street, to have the odd noggin, talk over past army adventures, and do justice to the rich repast.

A hangi needs careful preparation and looking after, and most of the afternoon was spent by Bill Waru and Dawson Tamatea (sitting), Mesdames Tamatea and Waru, and Wilson Tautau, keeping an eye on things.
