Helping Each Other
There are now upwards of 60 members in the Gisborne Solo Parents Club, which was formed some 12 months ago. Club members meet regularly and bring their families. They are able to help each other with the problems and difficulties in raising families on their own. The formation of the club also means that many people, who would not otherwise go out, are also able to mix socially. A function of this type was held a few weeks ago, where members and guests were able to enjoy each other's company.
The first club committee was, from left, Mrs Paddy McCulley (vice-president), Mr Ron Ammundsen (president), Mrs Judy Kennedy (welfare officer), Mr Gordon Netley (acting president, Wairoa club), Mrs Dorothy Lancaster (social convenor), Mrs Eris Boyack (children's activities), Mr Ralph Harding (vice-president), and Mrs Mary Holm (fund raising).
Mrs Anne Boyle (right) and Mary were also at the function.
Mr Fred McGarva and Mrs Sheila Scott
Mrs Effie Camming and Mrs Peggy Sullivan
Mrs L. Underdown and Mrs Millie Koi
Mr Stan Balfour and Mrs Pam Neilson
