Having the immediate family all together for the first time in 25 years was sufficient reason for us to take this picture of the Higgs family. From left, the family is June (Mrs Lincoln, Tolaga Bay), Margaret (Mrs Milne, Matamata), Jean (Mrs Hale, Tolaga Bay), Mr and Mrs Harry Higgs, 35 Wildish Street, Phyllis (Mrs Sommer, Wellington), Ray (Taupiri), John (Christchurch), and Harry (Tolaga Bay). Mr and Mrs Higgs farmed at Wharekaka, north of Tolaga Bay, from 1922 until they retired in Gisborne in 1967.

The Turanga Lions Club hosted five young Australians (winners of a Lions' Youth Exchange competition) during their trip to New Zealand recently. Sitting on the Endeavour Lodge Motel pool edge, they are, from left, Chris Wynne, Phillip White, Kaye Pearse, Paula Smith and Margaret Craig. Turanga Lions hosts also pictured are, from left, Don Galley and Jock Bellerby (in pool), and Max McKenzie (president), Robin Day (chairman, youth exchange), Doug Dyer and Howard Carruthers (at back).
