The Inspirer

Inspiring loyalty in his followers, and hatred and terror in his enemies, Te Kooti has become a man of legend. Educated at the Mission School at Waerenga-a-Hika, Te Kooti was a very astute and intelligent man and these qualities are evident when notice is taken of the commemorative exhibition which was staged in the museum recently.

One picture which purports to be that of Te Kooti is this fearsome portrait in the exhibition. We'll never know for sure, as Te Kooti was very adverse to having his picture taken.
