Big Hike For $700

And $64.96

×

The Reverend Neil Clarke, minister of the Te Hapara Parochial District for the past eight years, has transferred to Woodville. He and Mrs Clarke were farewelled by parishioners at a function held at St Mark's, prior to Christmas. Present at the function were, from left, in front, the Mayoress, Mrs H. H. Barker, the Reverend and Mrs Clarke, and Mrs C. Baker. At back: Messrs Barry Lloyd (people's warden), Harry Barker (Mayor), Rev. Ian Crump-ton (Ministers' Association representative), Colin Baker (Diocesan Standing Committee) and Geoff Crone (M.C.).

After the exams were finished last year, students from the Girls' High School took part in a seven-mile sponsored walk to raise money for the Pakistan Refugee Relief Fund. Over $700 was collected, a most commendable effort. Some of the girls are pictured here as they tackle the long stretch of Lytton Road.

And while the bigger girls were out walking, twelve girls from Cobham School raised $64.96 from a sales table they organised for the same relief fund. Helen Rodda is seen here, with the girls, presenting the cheque to Red Cross president, Miss G. Clifford-Jones.
