Gisborne's promising young back-stroke swimmer, Edith Hjorring, appears on the cover of this "Photo News" in a photograph taken at the Macrae Baths the day before she was due to leave for the New Zealand swimming championships at Greymouth.

Her trip south was sponsored by the Olympic Club, of which she is a member. This season Edith has lowered two H.B. - P.B. backstroke records. An indication of her rapid development in this field is given by the fact that only a few days after establishing a new provincial record for the 220yds distance, she clipped another 6sec off her time.
