Gone swimming...

Summertime might not have been up to the usual standard in Gisborne this season, but that hasn't had much effect on summer's most popular pastime —swimming. Every hot afternoon finds dozens, even hundreds, of young folk disporting themselves in the Macrae Baths, or at the beach.

Five records were broken by three young breastroke swimmers, Miss A. Dodd, N. Tuhou, and T. Royds, two by Miss M. Laws and one by H. Holmes, a veteran of pre-war swimming, who turned out to break the existing 880 yard record.
