On The Way Up
The Gisborne City National League Association Football team finished the season very strongly, with a 1-0 win over League runner-up Mt Wellington. Credit must go to the new player-coach, Alan Vest, as when he arrived (a third of the way through the season) Gisborne City was among the bottom teams in the League. By the end of the season they had risen to fifth place, two points below third place and six points ahead of the next place-getter, Dunedin Suburbs.
