Plunket Jubilee

The Gisborne branch of Plunket celebrated its 60th anniversary of service to mothers and babies in the district, recently. Funds are always needed to run the organisation and pay for the nursing services and a concerted effort was made this year in conjunction with the annual street appeal. A shop day was held at the St John Hall and extra-ordinarily large amounts of cake, produce, flowers and secondhand clothes were sold in record time. But money is needed all the time, so if you have any to spare …!

Plunket members prepare for the rush at the shop day.

One of the many helpers at work during the street appeal is Mrs T. M. Vaughan.

Services are full-time for plunket nurse Miss E. Wrenn where, at the Plunket Rooms, she weighs baby Carolyn Cross.

Matthew Cross also has his weight checked. The service is available for children up until their fifth year.
