A closely-fought game, with Fiji carrying the attack in the second spell, was seen by the large crowd of spectators at the Harry Barker Reserve on August 18. After a half-time score of three-two in Poverty Bay's favour each team scored again in the second half, making the final score Poverty Bay four to Fiji's three.
