A Prize for your Eyes?

The prizewinners in the Lions Club essay competition were announced on July 26. The essay was conducted in conjunction with Braille Week and the title of the essay was "What are your eyes worth?"

Mrs Esme Tombleson, MP, presented the prizes which were given out at Radio 2ZG.

A visitor of note to Gisborne recently was Lt-Commissioner Harry Williams, OBE, F.R.C.S. (Edin). He came to Gisborne in his capacity as Commissioner of the New Zealand Salvation Army, and while here addressed the Gisborne Rotary Club, visited Cook Hospital, and met with local Salvation Army personnel. Dr Williams, who was awarded the Obe for his work in plastic surgery at the Cathryn Booth Hospital in Nagercoil, India, is pictured at his meeting with Gisborne Salvation Army Officers.
