Tikitiki Golden Wedding

Yes, believe it or not. A Doberman Pincer bitch, by the name of Pumby, has taken over the care of a stray kitten at the Pilkington residence, 69 Chalmers Road. Russell Pilkington and his Mend Darryl McLean found the kitten down by the dump and brought it home. Pumby took over straight away, is mothering the kitten, and woe betide anyone who gets too close and looks like making off with the kitten. Russell (left) and Darryl are shown with Pumby and the kitten (which obviously hasn't a care in the world right now).

Doreen Goldsmith, daughter of Mr and Mrs Barney Goldsmith, Kopuapounamu Valley, Te Araroa, is a great outdoor girl. She caught this large eel at East Cape. It was 3' 8" long and weighed 131b. (Major Medland).

And West is West, as the saying goes. If we need proof, here is a picture from Mrs D. McCreedy, 594 Gladstone Road. It shows Mrs McCreedy on holiday on the Island of Taveuni in the Fijian group. This island has the only motor road in the world which crosses the 180th meridian of longitude, which also separates the eastern hemisphere from the western hemisphere.

Mr and Mrs Rua Koia celebrated their golden wedding at Tikitiki recently. It was also the occasion of Mr Koia's 70th birthday. A family party was held and Mr and Mrs Koia are pictured here with their eldest grandson, Chris Koia (inset left), and Mrs Nan Costain, second eldest grand-daughter (inset right). (Major Medland).
