Store, 86, Houses Post Office, 100

A post office has been in existence at Ormond for 100 years. Opened in July 1871, it was situated at the military barracks, which were 200 yards away and over the road from the present Ormond Store. After the barracks were closed the post office was taken over by the Ormond Store, where it has been housed ever since. Just before the turn of the century people by the name of Friar bought the store and it has been in the family ever since, the present owner, Mr A. Friar, taking over in 1946.
