N.Z. Secretary Addresses Club

The Barnardo's organisation is to build a Day Care Centre in Auckland and Mrs Jones has been travelling the country explaining the scheme, and the workings of Dr Barnardo's. The organisation has been in existence in England for over 100 years and working in New Zealand for over 50, and originally started out to take care of orphaned children. From left: Miss L. The winners of the Canterbury Cup in the St. John Ambulance Cadet Division Hawkes Bay-Poverty Bay area eliminations held recently will go to the national final at Invercargill at the end of August. The local team is pictured with cadet superintendent Mr Bill Sefton, and is, from left, after Mr Sefton, Cpl Kevin Goodson (leader), Robertson Goodson (No. 3), Rex Wilson (No. 4), and Robert Wilkie (No. 2).

Mrs M. E. Jones, secretary for Dr Barnardo's in New Zealand, addressed various organisations while in Gisborne recently. Among these was the Gisborne branch of the Happiness Club which held a public meeting to hear Mrs Jones.

These eight members of the Tainui Sea Scout Group made a 35-mile overland tramp, from Lake Wai-karemoana to Te Reinga, over Queen's Birthday weekend.
