Power Board Services Ended

Mr Hall has been in Tolaga Bay for 20 years, the past 15 of those as resident inspector. Mr Rowe, 8 Desmond Road, has had 22 years' service, seven in the yards and the latter 15 as storeman. Mr Smith, 298 Aberdeen Road, has been an engineer with the board for the past ten years.

Three Poverty Bay Power Board people retired from work recently and were farewelled accordingly. They were, from left, Messrs Len Hall, Jack Rowe and Arnold Smith.

Three men who have holed-in-one during the past golfing season received their golfing ties. This gift is bestowed on all those who hole-in-one throughout the country by the Booth Gin Company. The ties were presented by the local representative, Mr Snow Hansen (right) of D. J. Barry Ltd. From left: Messrs Joe'Martin (who scored his hole-in-one last January), Ted Larmer (last October to make his fourth – his first was in 1933), and Fred Grecntree (last December). Mr Greentree is also president of the Eagles Club.

Mrs Maida Hillyard, Mary Street; was recently elected for a fourth term as president of the Gisborne and East Coast Rose Society. Mrs Hillyard, a councillor of the National Rose Society of New Zealand, will be attending the World Convention of Rose Societies to be held in Hamilton in November.

Speedway vice-president Mr Gerry Huberts is shown with this handsome cup and miniature given to the club by a strong local supporter, Mr Bob Shields. The cup is to be awarded to the local stock car gaining the most points during the season and will be awarded for the first time at the club's annual general meeting later this year.
