A very successful fair was held recently at the Gisborne Art Gallery and Museum when $450 was raised. The money is to be used for the maintenance of this valuable civic amenity.

The old Gisborne Hotel on the corner of Childers Road and Lowe Street will soon be no more, replaced by the million-dollar DB Gisborne at Kaiti. It is said there has been a Gisborne Hotel on the old site for 100 years. The site has been bought by Williams & Kettle, who will use it initially for a car park.
A 3-day auction of the hotel's contents and fittings was held shortly after the hotel was closed.
