Record Breaking Brothers

Three of the Shivnan brothers, sons of Dr and Mrs B. Shivnan, have creat ed a unique episode in the annals of St. Mary's School swimming sports.

In 1969 Brendan set recorc of 48 seconds for the Standarc 250 yards freestyle, and 1 min 54sec for the 100 yards freestyle. In 1970 Shaun broke these records down to 42.6sec and 1 min 31sec respectively, In that year Shaun also set up a record of 34.7sec for the 33 1-3 yards freestyle. This year younger brother Eugene brought that down to 31 sec. Incidentally, last year Shaun also broke the 25 yards freestyle (20.8 down to 19.4) and the one length freestyle (27 down to 25.2) both of which have been held by Brian Meads since 1962.
