Archers on Parade

The 1956 New Zealand archery championships were held at Gisborne in January for the second time since they have been instituted. The local club is the largest in the Dominion, and with its president, W. J. Burton, holding New Zealand and world championships, Gisborne has become something of a mecca for N.Z. archers.

Certainly it was the focal point for devotees of the sport during the contest, with 143 competitors attending from all parts of the country.
