National Junior Tennis Championships

Gisborne was this year the venue of the New Zealand Junior tennis championships, when over 250 young players from all parts of the country took part in a tournament which was a marked success in every respect. Organisation, in the hands of the Poverty Bay and East Coast Lawn Tennis Association, was a heavy task which required long and unremitting service over the best part of a fortnight, but although it was the district's first essay at a national tennis tournament, those responsible won high praise from both players and public for their efforts, which could only be called highly successful. The weather for the championships was fine, and at times a little too hot.
