Round Table Chartered

The presentation of their charter to the Gisborne Round Table took place at a very enjoyable dinner at the Midway pavilion. The actual presentation was made by the New Zealand president, Hugh Price, while guest speaker was the well known rugby referee, Pat Murphy of Whangarei.

In the official party are, from left, Mrs Esme Tombleson, M.P., Mr Tom Tombleson, Round Table secretary Peter Wright, guest speaker Pat Murphy, Mrs Agnes Heikell, New Zealand president Hugh Price, Gisborne president John Heikell, the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs Harry Barker, and Round Table master of ceremonies Jim Wolf.

As each new chapter of Round Table is formed the Doll of Friendship is passed on to the new chapter. Gisborne president John Heikell receives the doll from Timaru chairman Peter Shutt. Hugh Price is at centre.
