For the Last Time

Telephone subscribers in Te Araroa heard the manual exchange operator's "Number please?" for the last time recently when the change-over to automatic service was made. The function was attended by Mr McCreedy, M.P., who put the first toll call through the new exchange when he spoke to Mayor Harry Barker in Gisborne.
