After 43 years with the Gisborne Sheepfarmers Ltd., wool office manager Frank Beer retired on Friday, July 31. At a function held in his honour at the Midway Surf Club pavilion, Mr Beer was the recipient of two presentations, one from the directors and one from the staff. From left: Mrs Beer, Frank Beer, chairman of directors Percy Barker, and general manager Frank Martin.

Another long service man to retire on the same day was Jim Hill, travel officer with the Bank of New Zealand. He has been with the bank for 41 years, beginning in Auckland in 1929. Mr Hill has been in Gisborne since 1937 and he (centre) is pictured with assistant manager Ron Cheeseman and Mrs Hill at a presentation to mark his retirement.

Back from a 20-month stint in Vietnam is Pte. Kevin Cross of Tokomaru Bay. Quite a few of his relations were on hand at 10 Townley Street to welcome him back.
