The recent Week of Prayer for Christian Unity was highlighted in Gisborne by a service of combined ministers and congregations in St. Mary's Star of the Sea Church. Those taking part in the service were, from left, Father M. Drumm, Brother Marius, Father M. Bugler (Catholic), Major L. J. Daly (Salvation Army), the Rev, 0. Robinson (Presbyterian), the Rev. M. Olds (Methodist), the Rev. R. Weeks (Mangapapa Union Church), the Rev. D. Jensen and the Rev. L. Florance (Anglican).

At the first R.S.A. Tin Hat Club tattoo of the season the proceeds of the Anzac night concert were presented to the St. John Ambulance Society and the Gisborne Civic Band. The cheques, which amounted to a total of just over $200, were presented by Tin Hat Club president Allan Aitken (left) to Arnold De Ridder (St. John) and Eric Nunns (Civic Band).

Don Scrimgeour, son of Mrs C. J. Scrimgeour, 9 Maude Street, has left to work in Australia. Previously with the Ministry of Works, Don goes to a civil engineering job with a New Zealand consulting engineer based in Adelaide. For the first three months he will be doing survey work at Tennant Creek in the Northern Territory.
