A place of honour

A Japanese samurai sword (used by professional Japanese soldiers in the olden days) was presented to the Gisborne Judo Club recently by Mr Brian Whineray. A relic from the Second World War, the valuable sword will be set in a place of honour each club night, Much ceremony goes with the sport in Japan and a touch of the same for the Gisborne Club has given the club quite a lift. On the night of the presentation a demonstration of judo was given to the public.
