Confrontation

A strong play is now on the boards at Unity Theatre in Derby Street. "A Man For All Seasons" tells of the refusal of Thomas More (Chancellor to Henry VIII) to sanction the King's divorce from Catherine of Aragon, his subsequent marriage to Anne Bolyn, and also his refusal to approve the King's title as the supreme head of the Church of England. This, of course, has fatal results for More. The settings are good and the production is richly costumed. The audience is helped greatly by the appearance of Peter Sledmere as the Common Man who takes part in the play but also plains the action from time to , time. The production is in the capable hands of Ray Skyrme.
