Copter Crash

The pilot of this helicopter (Mr R. R. McCulloch) had a lucky escape when the machine crashed due, it is believed, to a failure in the rotary control system. Blackberry spraying had been carried out and the helicopter was on its way back to Gisborne when the accident occurred. The machine dropped about 60 feet on to a ridge above Riverside Road then rolled a short distance down the hill.
