Way Out!
Go-go dancers, drug addicts, drunks, and gamblers are just a few of the people depicted by the young people of Gisborne in "Jo Jonah". The folk drama log is based on the story of Jonah in the Bible and shows man's responsibilities to mankind and the world. The show runs for three nights in April (15, 16, 19) in St. Andrew's Church, Cobden Street, and commences at 8 p.m. Proceeds will go to the Save the Children Fund.
Love for the under- privileged and mankind: Robyn Strange and Philippa Neill.
One of the escape routes from responsibilities is drug taking. Patricia Egan (addict) and Vanessa Moon (pusher).
Another escape is gambling: Selwyn Ruru, Tony Daly, and Peter McNeur.
Jonah is troubled by his conscience: Tony Daly and Jillian Chrisp as the judges, and Robert Kilpatrick (centre) as Jonah.
Jonah in the belly of the whale rebuilds himself and becomes a better person. The two dancers are Melody Sherwood and June Hall.
