Ups and Downs
The Gisborne Car Club certainly had its fill on August 2 and 3 when it held its bi-centennial sprint and hill climb. Entries were good as were the times. Rod Coppins created a new record for the .7 mile course for 2001cc-and-over saloon cars in the time of 40.95 seconds.
Graham Thompson in his Escort won his class in the sprint in 19.175 seconds.
Bruce Green, driving his Escort, won the 1001-1300cc class in 44.2s.
Rod Husband in his Anglia. He won the 1301-2000cc hill climb in 43s, and is shpwn doing so, below right.
