Here and There

The fourteen pupils of the Waikura Station School had a 100% banking average for the 1968 school banking year. Because of this they were treated to a day in Gisborne by the Post Office Savings Bank. The day included a trip on the Hikurangi (above) as well as visits to the Fire Station, Watties, the Post Office and the Telephone Exchange. These people were accompanied by fourteen pupils from the Mangapapa School. Mangapapa had the third highest banking percentage in New Zealand. Highlight of the day was the afternoon tea (left) being enjoyed by some of the boys and girls.
