Pictures from the Past

From Mr H. McIntosh of Pouawa we have these pictures taken in the saw-milling days at Matawai. The pictures came from the estate of the late Mrs Pritchard of Matawai.

Part of the saw milling set-up shows the engine house and saw mill with the bush-felled hills in the background.

A quantity of timber is stacked at the mill after being sawn.

×
     

After the bush area had been fired grass seed was taken in by pack-horse for re-sowing.
