October 31, the eve of All Saints or Hallowmas, is by long tradition believed to be a night when supernatural influences are at work. Anybody who popped a head in the door of Abercorn Hall last October 31 would be prepared to believe anything. for there were the Wizard of Gis and his six witches, apparently up to no good, but actually entertaining members of the Victoria League.
