Y.H.A. Rally

Seventy-eight delegates and rally representatives gathered in Gisborne for the Youth Hostel Association's annual national rally at Easter weekend. Run in conjunction with the rally was the association's annual general meeting. This is the first time in N.Z. that the two have been held together.

The rally was officially opened by His Worship the Mayor, Mr H. H. Barker, on April 5. The official party is, from left, the Mayor and Mayoress, Mr and Mrs H. H. Barker, the national chairman of the Y.H.A., Mr O. Wilson, M.P. for Gisborne, Mrs E. I. Tombleson, and the chairman of the local Y.H.A., Mr R. A. Pilbrow.

Coral Hall (Christ-church) took the minutes for the annual general meeting.

Members of the rally committee are Sheryl Irving (convenor), Ian and Hilary Beck (secretaries for the rally committee and also for the local Y.H.A. committee).

During their stay in Gisborne the delegates and rally representatives visited Cook's Cove.
