From a cause as yet undetermined fire broke out in the Spotlight Coffee Lounge in the early hours of March 8. Prompt and efficient work by the Fire Brigade confined the blaze which made quite a mess of the interior.

A rare type of visitor to the Lucy May frock shop was this late model car. After a collision with another car in Gladstone Road this car finished up across the footpath and smashed the plate glass doors and one of the display windows of the store.
