Give Generously

The annual appeal for funds for the Intellectually Handicapped Children Society takes place on March 29. Money is always needed for the operations of this worthy society and it is one we should all help.

Various activities of the two centres in Gisborne are pictured here.

People at the Donnelly Training Centre set to with a will recently and did up attractive bags of fruit for visiting Lions during their recent convention. This was an appreciation for all the help the Lions Club has given the society.

Progress on the new hostel in Albert Street continues steadily and this will be a boon when it opens about next May.

Young people at the Kahutia Occupation Centre in Bright Street gain much from the centre's training. Activities include visits to the Y.M.C.A. for gymnastic training where exercises are taken on the trampoline (above left and centre), and on the ropes (above right).

During the summer swimming takes place in the Awapuni school baths. Involvement in outside activities helps these people to understand the rest of the world and the rest of the world to understand them. Don't forget that appeal, will you? The unfortunate circumstance of being intellectually handicapped can happen to anyone's child anywhere.
