Four Students For The U.S.A.

All four students recommended by the local branch of the American Field Service were accepted for exchange with American students later in the year. This is the second year in succession that four students have been accepted.

Two A.F.S. students from the U.S.A. arrived at the beginning of the year to attend schools in the area.

Janet Zame, a student at St. Mary's College. An Anthony Eden Cup winner for public speaking, Janet is the daughter of Mrs G. Zame, Kahutia Street.

Dennis Berdinner is the son of Mr and Mrs A. Berdinner, Te Karaka. He attends Waikohu College.

A student at Woodford House, Vicki Irvine is the daughter of Dr and Mrs B. Irvine, Stafford Street.

Jean Hyland, the daughter of Mr and Mrs C. Hyland, Whakatane, has been a student at the Gisborne Girls High School for the past four years. These people leave in August for their year in the States.

Emmy Hoffman, from Cleveland, Ohio, is attending Lytton High School. She is staying with Mr and Mrs D. P. Sinclair, Manutuke.

Mr and Mrs J. C. Cameron and family have Russ Fletcher, Atlanta, Georgia, staying with them at Ormond. Russ is attending Waikohu College. The family is, from left: Mr Cameron, Mrs Cameron, David, Colin, Peter, and, in front, Bruce and Kay.
