Junior Tennis Tournament

The entire tournament was organised by Mr Mose Harvey, one of Gisborne's top professional tennis coaches, and was sponsored by Guy and Dunsmore Sports. Over 100 children from P.B. took part in the tournament which was the first one of its kind to be held in Gisborne.

The three Sherwood girls of Lloyd George Road and Fraser Gibson of Wainui. Carol won the under 13 singles and the mixed doubles and was runner-up in the girls' doubles. Fraser won the under 13 singles and the mixed doubles. Joanne was runner-up in the under 13 singles and the girls' doubles. Melody won the under 15 doubles and was runner-up in the singles and the mixed doubles.

Rita Tureia, Christine Ria, Lesley Allen, Joanne Sherwood, Kay Ria, Elizabeth Hewitt, Joseph Harvey, Phillippa Bowker, Raymond Walford and Brett McGuinness all took part in the tournament.
