The first awards for industrial design in New Zealand will be made this year. They will be of $1,000 each and up to 12 could be given. This Rothmans sponsored project has been created to assist New Zealand's export of manufactured goods.

The 180 finalists have their entries on a special exhibition train and this is going around the country until December 2, when the awards will be made at the final judging.

The amazing thing about the exhibition is that so many New Zealanders themselves do not realise just how many good industrial designers we have in the country.
