First Class Entertainment

The Gisborne Orphans Club members excelled themselves when they put on an evening of first-class entertainment for their ladies' night recently.

The acts were good and the presentation slick, while a good time was had by all.

One of the star turns of the evening was Ken Maynard's magic act. Here he has just turned three knotted lengths of rope into one.

×

Father Playfair sang two bright and entertaining songs.

×

Finale to a sketch was provided by Peter Wooller who "burst" upon the scene. Derek Fitzgerald and Keith Stichbury provided help in "The Chicken Man".

×

The orchestra provided two selections.

Tom Lyle drew great applause for his violin selections.

The first "motion picture show" was re-enacted, and its title was (in case you didn't know) "Poor Little Angeline".

Others to receive ten year badges were Les Steele, Jack Moss and George Odams. At right is Les Stichbury who received his 30 year badge.

As an appreciation for the hospitality received on their recent raid to Katikati the Gisborne Orphans presented their host club with a picture of Gisborne. Katikati club members came through for the evening. From left, standing, are Freddie Jones, Doug Heywood (central group president), Bert Moles (Gisborne Chief), Ken Salt (Katikati club secretary), and Mrs Salt. Sitting are Mrs Jones, Mrs Heywood and Mrs Moles.
