Startling Explosion

A shattering explosion brought people into the street just after 5.30 p.m. on Monday, September 16. A short circuit in the drying room at Robinson's Dry Cleaners in Gladstone Road is believed to have caused the fire which was quickly brought under control by the Fire Brigade.

The explosion shattered the plate glass window, showering broken glass over the footpath. Fortunately there was nobody in the store or on the footpath at the time.
