The famous W.G.C.G. Rugby Football team (Waipaoa and Gisborne Country Girls) played a magnificent game against the Young Farmers' combined team recently, the result of which is still undecided. In front are Lyn McGregor (half-back), Margo Sherriff (full-back), and, from left at back, Joslyn Muir, Janice Utting, Carol Jarvie, Dinah Wilson and Katrine Crarer (forwards, here and there), Diane Schollum (second five), Jenny Sharp (third five), Heather Grey (fourth five) and Kathy Veitch (fifth five - eighths, that is!)

Back in Gisborne after five years in New Plymouth is Alan ("Shorty") Lamb. Friends and neighbours put up this sign for Alan who is back on transfer as lines foreman with the Post Office.

From Mrs H. Davies, 186 Russell Street, come these two pictures of hers taken of sandcarvings at Manly Beach, Australia, in 1929. They are full of great detail and depict Christ on the Cross (left) and The Widow (right). Only sand, seawater and colours were used in the making.
